Interview with a Master by Jason Luke (Book Review)
Every so often, a book blows up my Goodreads feed and demands my attention. This was the case a little over a month ago with Jason Luke’s Interview with a Master. The blurb alone had me wanting more and so I went 1-Click happy on Amazon for my copy. I started the book not knowing what to expect and the end result was something along the lines of bittersweet longing for the protagonists. I also found it refreshing to read a book written by a man, it’s so rare that it’s almost like a treat. So if you’re sitting around with nothing to do on this very Forks-ish weekend, I urge you to get lost in Jonah Noble’s world (he’s kind of a big deal).
It’s the interview like no other.
It’s the interview of a lifetime.
It’s THE Interview with a Master.
When Jonah Noble reveals details of his life within the world of BDSM, the tale he tells is intensely erotic, profoundly sensual, and brutally honest.
This is His world. His way.
There is only one question the man will not answer…
(BDSM erotica from a man’s POV, written by a man. Contains some explicit language)

What you see on the cover is what you get. Jason Luke’s novel, Interview with a Master, is a titillating glimpse inside the alluring world of BDSM as told by the incredibly wealthy and extremely private Jonah Noble. The 34 year old ‘larger than life’ man has given plenty interviews but none like this one. Looking to have his story told, he looks to newspaper intern Leticia Fall as the lucky writer to pen the brutally honest and sensual account of his journey from young man to highly respected Master. While other interviews have been pretty run of the mill and superficial, this particular one will go deep into the core of Jonah Noble the man and not the myth. His only condition is a tit for tat approach, where the interviewer becomes the interviewee and vice versa. In other words, nearly no questions are off limits as long as Leticia agrees to answer his own honestly. The result is a reading experience like no other.
I was captivated by Jonah Noble’s personality that seemed to have drawn its traits from some of my favorite romance/erotica heroes. He possessed Gideon Cross’s arrogance, Gabriel Emerson’s knowledge and understanding of the female nature and Christian Grey’s mercurial ways. His poise and no nonsense attitude when sharing his memories had me hanging on every word. The unorthodox camaraderie Felicia and Jonah establish buzzed with sexual tension which I craved page after page. The interview settings along with the weather were very much in a sense a kind of secondary characters. The tempestuous weather served as a foreshadowing of what was to come. After a storm comes the calm, however the calm in this case brings something entirely unexpected and altogether heartbreaking. Although it didn’t have a true cliffhanger, it certainly keeps you craving for what happens next.
I picked up this book solely based on fellow GR friends’ updates and it did not disappoint. If you’re a FSOG fan and ever wondered what would have happened if our dear Mr. Grey and Anastasia had met a few years further down the line, this is your chance to find out (sorta kinda). Interview with a Master is a highly recommended read with a delectable addition to any bookworm’s list of book boyfriends in the form of Jonah Noble.
